    Default UsCutter Refine

    Hi there

1st post here, I have a Refine MH871 from Us Cutter, and I'd like to know what material can be cut with it to produce templates.
I know there's some sandblast resist, found one around 22mil thick, and the refine is supposed to cut up to 30mil.

If you can place comment on this or recommend what is the best material to use with such cutter.
I'd like to now too, if those small cutters, like robocraft and similar can do it. because I wouldn't mind getting another one just for that task if I can find a good deal

    thanks a lot

    First, welcome to the forum!

Personally, I would currently recommend using Hartco 425 Sandmask material.

It's an all-a-round good material for rhinestone templates. You can also try the Hartco Equalizer 930 material, however it has a plastic liner instead of the paper liner that comes with the Hartco 425. I have found the plastic liner to occasionally slip in my USCutter Copam cutter...which throws the pattern off. If you look at other brands of sandblast resist material, you need to ensure the surface of the material is smooth. If the surface of the material is not smooth enough...the rhinestones will not brush across the material. If you do end up with a brand of material that has a non-smooth or matte finish to it...you can use a silicone spray on the material which will make it smooth enough to do the job.

I haven't used a robocraft cutter myself, so maybe someone else can comment on that. It needs to be able to feed that thickness and size of material through the cutter and have enough force to cut through it.

Thanks for the link and reply Scott. I'm concerned mostly about the ability of my cutter to cut through the material, and clean vuts obviously.

I don't know the thickness in mm (not mil) of the material used for the templates, but I was playing in my head with the idea of printing the pattern and take it to a hard rigid material, of the right thickness, and drill the dots, then place the backing mateial of your choice. Don't know if that will work or not, but in theory is not that complicated. Need to find the right material and match the drill bits to the stone dimensions.
